Raggedy

Raggedy Ann

My mom brought my old Raggedy Ann doll with her on her last visit to give to my daughter. I got it as a gift when I was born. So she's 37 also. And I was looking at her while I was trying to clean up our house and figure out creative ways to make more space where there is none and I thought, George Jesus we look a lot alike. I'm growing my hair out and it's looking crazy. My clothes are ill fitting. I have giant bags under my eyes that just kind of fade into my crow's feet. And I have that same grin. That "everything's fine" grin. When actually everything feels like it's about to come undone. And I thought, tell me about it sister. Maybe I need some red striped sock therapy too.

Wow! If you're like Raggedy Ann, imagine how loved you are too!!!!
What a darling and introspective post.
If I were there I would hug you.

Awwww....cute! I miss my Raggedy Ann doll..mine was (or seemed) huge...I remember taking her for a bike ride with me, and getting her leg tangled up in the pedals...well, long story short, my mumsy had to give Raggedy Ann emergency surgery to stop my sobbing. Aaahhh...good times. And YES, get yourself some stripey socks! They really do the trick!

good luck with the hair growing! You have my sympathies - I tried growing mine out all year in time for our wedding in 2 weeks time but got so far before throwing the head up and getting it pixie cropped all over again!! Maybe after the wedding, I'll try again! How long have you been trying to grow it?

i hear you! i still have the snoopy my dad got me when i was a year old. the dog's ear is coming off, skin is all mottled and stuffing is bulging out of his sides, kinda like me. but how awesome that we still have these things with us. your mom is a gem, so is raggedy and so are you.

How lovely that your Raggedy Ann is now 37 and your daughter has her too. I think that's wonderful. She looks great, her hair's a bit like mine except I'm going grey badly! I feel like cutting it all off and letting the grey come through properly! But I daren't! A lovely post.

aw. well I had a raggedy ann sleeping bag growing up and loved it to pieces. We would sleep on the floor inside our giant cardboard Holly Hobbie house.

AG - I totally had the Holly Hobbie sleeping bag.

Pointy PIx - It is three months out of a pixie cut and terrible. It's curly too so it doesn't grow out well. Ugh.

I'm wearing the stripey socks today so things are looking brighter!

You left out that she's super cute. I love the "bags" under the eyes- hilarious.

I am loving this...and you know, I've never noticed those jagged zig zags under her eyes until you mentioned it! We notice these things about ourselves...
I have a very old Pooh Bear who's ear is separating from his body and his fur looks very picked at. I feel like that much of the time, and I do wish I could take my ears off at times without consequence! Falling apart at the seams. Yes, yes.
I love your laughing, knowing eyes.
